The Language We Use Matters
I return often to ideas about how important the language we use to describe ourselves and our experience with mental illness is.
Of course, words shape our thoughts. They also place constraints around our self-image. We can free ourselves of those boundaries simply by changing verbs when we consider our identity. It's not as confusing as it sounds. To be simply becomes to have.
